Agile Conference Tokyo 2014

[Japanese]

Last year, we successfully hosted Agile Conference Tokyo 2013 which was highlighted on "Kanban" and in succession, we will host "Agile Conference Tokyo 2014" this year of which the subject is "Continuous Delivery / devOps".

For this year, we invited 2 experts from ThoughtWorks who will be delivering the latest news of Agile from overseas. In keynote session, Jez Humble will be the lecturer for the third time and has received good reputations from his past lectures. He will be also sharing his newly published book "Lean Enterprise" .

As a special session, Miss Xiaoshen Wang will be sharing her stories of big Agile development cases overseas, who will become the first female speaker from ThoughtWorks for the event.

Furthermore, a training session "Continuous Delivery" is planned on the following day that will be lectured by Jez. We had the same training program 2 years ago, however, we got feedbacks like "wish to have more time" and " wish to hear more" and so on. In order to meet the audiences' demands, we decided to have one more time with the same program, so please do not miss the great opportunity of facing with Jez.

We will draw lots for the conference applicants, and the training registration will be based on "first-come-first-served". Please register ASAP, you won't miss it out.

[Keynote Speech(70 minutes)]"Enterprise DevOps: Breaking Down the Barriers between Development and IT Operations"

Agile processes were originally designed to break down the barriers among users, programmers, and testers. Now, DevOps—an emerging set of principles and practices for communication, collaboration, and integration between development and IT operations—seeks to break down the development/operations barriers. By applying agile principles to operations and re-architecting the interfaces between these groups, DevOps empowers organizations to deliver high-value software faster and with fewer errors. In this presentation I will describe how to implement DevOps practices in large enterprises—and small organizations. Starting with an investigation of the crisis facing large IT departments, I’ll discuss the root causes of operations challenges and how DevOps addresses them. I’ll explore how the guiding principles of DevOps—collaboration, automation, measurement, and information sharing—enable continuous delivery through rapid software releases of high quality software. Using examples from real companies, including amazon.com, I illustrate how to accelerate innovation within your company with DevOps techniques and share the architecture and organizational structures necessary for success.

[Session 2(40 minutes)]Code quality and risk analysis that backs up Agile Development

In agile development, establishment of process to be built in quality instead of bug is the key. Source code static analysis technology at a high level of bug detection will enable us to maintain the cleanliness and stability of the code and has been used effectively by a large number of teams who are working on agile development.
In this session, we will cover following topics for the static analysis of the latest technology for developers who are involved in agile development.

reduction of waste from quality of code
trends of static analysis technology
utilization status of the OSS project
to impact analysis of code changes from bug detection
test priority setting and test automation that impact analysis support
case studies: Coverity product development team, Approach to test automation

The code and testing quality will greatly affect the success of agile development. We hope you will have a better understanding for it which is one of the supporting technologies of Agile Development .

[Special Session (40 minutes)]Case Studies of Distributed Agile

Managing a large-size software delivery centre is not an easy job. Itʼs even challenging when the team sitting in different locations. How can we ensure a distributed agile delivery succeed and scale the size up?
This talk will share stories of distributed agile delivery in a real-estate company and an insurance organisation to learn from them how do these organizations enable a sustainable distributed agile with getting the right practice, people, technology and culture into place. What lessons weʼve learnt to ensure successful distributed delivery and support business growth with leveraging global talents, and how do we operate to scale it up from phase to phase.

Speaker:
Xiaoshen Wang (ThoughtWorks Inc. Lead consultant)

[Session 3(40 minutes)]Go implement Continuous Delivery!
〜How app development changes by cloud? 〜

Technology innovation represented by cloud technology, is becoming a driver to push Continued Delivery and DevOps forward.
Planning and developing an environment for implementing DevOps has been a cumbersome process so far to be frank. It is getting easier to be in the environment of Continuous Delivery by cloud development, not only by the app execution environment. In this session, for the latest cloud-based app development, we will introduce the new PaaS services of IBM's "BlueMix", with a demo as well as the mechanism.

Speaker:
Noriyuki Egi (IBM Japan, Ltd.)

[Session 4(40 minutes)]Affinity of the agile process and JBoss BRMS

The BRMS (Business Rule Management System), is a system for managing and executing business rules which is separate from the application. In agile process, generally we simplify the design work. Based on that, we will introduce the next generation Paas running platform JBoss × Paas and unique cases of programming automation.

① Practice of Agile BRMS
(Agile development using the automatic generation technology and JBoss BRMS)
At Hitachi Solutions, there are diversified processes for Agile. In the past Agile Conference, we introduced the case study of Ruby and Scrum, and hybrid agile of enterprise systems development. This time, we will introduce the case study of a combination of program automatic generation technology and JBoss BRMS, which is a repeatedly agile design work, automatically generated.
② Super-high-speed development, which is expected to be the next of BRMS which is called "DevOps"
(To introduce the next-generation value Paas foundation run JBoss × Paas presented by Red Hat)
